Autumn Bowl's Skate Punk Bash

3 punk bands, 1 half pipe and 1 kidney shaped bowl, 40's, firecrackers, moshpit, flying beers, skate dudes...where is this? at the Autumn Bowl in Greenpoint of course.

It was a pretty wild nite packed with skate kids and a bunch of familiar faces in attendance...Vice, aNYthing, Neckface, Reciprocal skates, etc.
The bands Razor Tail, Bad Shit and The Goat- all killed it; specially Bad Shit with their hottie drummer chick in shorts and bra, bangin those drums pretty fucken hard and fast. Their singer with the mike duct taped pretty tight around his head was rather amusing to see, and am sure it proved to be a bitch to taking off.

Beer cans and bottles flying in and out of the pit, boards diving off the halp pipe into the pit and towards the band, smoky firecrakers popping in the midst of it all...rather hilarious and made sense at the same time. The vibe and place was just right for it. A rad nite for sure.

Smell The Glove 2 was banging!

The second installment of Smell The Glove at St. Jerome's in LES was a powerhouse. It was presented by Earache Records and hosted by Nickels and Dimes along Brooklyn Ski Club.
Noisecreep's Power Hour kicked things off with the official listening of the new RATT album Infestation. Their latest album in over 10 yrs! The place was hella packed and the young guns really got into it...with a little help from the open bar, thnx PBR!

After the listening hour, Fanelli from SHAPES took over Dj duties and spun a hella fun set, complete with golden gems from Hanoi Rocks, Twisted Sister, Dio to Danzig, while the sexy Victoria Privates did her thing Go-Go style.

The next Dj was Prince Terrence (popular local dj from Circa party) he got some good mixes in, most notably a guns n' roses/cramps/slayer/ metallica mash-up...pretty effin good! The crowd was definitely feeling it and some of the girls in attendance just took over the stage en-masse to go-go...which is aces in my book.

Right after that, Dj Matt Kepler from Precious Metal Mondays was up. Bodacious Amber Star joined the party too and danced to the likes of Motorhead, Maiden, White Wizzard, Ozzy, Cauldron to much delight of the die-hard drunken surly mugs like myself still not ready to go home.

The crowd was pretty great, from metal heads, punk dudes, hot girls to college kids. Our homies from MetalSucks, Metal Injection, Sirius Liquid Metal, Royalflush mag, RoadRunner, Heavy Metal Happy Hour, among other industry peeps came out to party with us 4:20 style!
oh, and we gave out rad Gift bags throughout the night with a bunch of goodies from all the sponsors too!

It was a fun boozy night to say the least and we're starting to work on the third installment. In the meantime, here are some pics to gawk at. (pics by Dr. Photog and Nickels n Dimes)

Shangri La Studio party in greenpoint

Went to this rad party in Greenpoint at this huge loft. There was free booze all night with a door price of 12 bones.
They had done some renovations and the place looked a bit spiffy...as opposed to the DIY feel it had before. A bunch of bands including classy Brian Newman Trio played and the fire breathing burlesque chicks were tops.
The whole night was an epic win until Jon Toubin started setting up for his dj set...that's when the announcement came to leave cuz the cops were outside...apparently something really bad went down on the street.
That pretty much sobered us, so we moved the party to our friend's rooftop, zig zagging our way thru the police shit show at 4am.

Amon Amarth kinda sunday

So, there I was chillen at home being lazy and a bit hungover, knee deep in metalocalypse/futurama/southpark/aqua teen marathon, plus some PS3 and delivery, when I received a call to see Am0n Amarth and Holy Grail within an hour...of course I said, yes. Who am I to turn down a free viking metal show on a rainy nite.
Amon Amarth, they're pretty fucken tight live, wall of sound and tempos always in-synch that only seasoned veterans possess...their songs are long sometimes but they can rock shit out pretty epicly. good times. I took a couple pics.
